This is my best baby bonnet yet. It is textured, cosy and beautiful a wrapped into one bonnet. It is great to keep your baby warm and cozy. This bonnet looks vintage. The shell edging detail adds a lot of beauty to it, looks even better when the edging is done in a different color.
DESIGN
This crochet baby bonnet was at first worked in the round, then in rows. The part worked in round is worked in double crochet while the textured part of this crochet baby bonnet is achieved with alpine stitch.
EASY
The Crochet Alpine baby bonnet pattern is very easy to make, it has clear instructions, and it is beginner friendly. It is a small project, so you are done in a short while.
COZY
This easy crochet baby bonnet pattern has a very beautiful texture, which makes it perfect for the cold weather. Make this adorable crochet baby bonnet for your cute little ones to keep them cozy and warm.
YARN
I used Dk weight yarn for this cute crochet baby bonnet pattern. You can use any Dk weight yarn of your choice. You can mix colors or even use verigated yarn.
SIZES
The crochet alpine baby bonnet pattern provides instructions for two sizing options, including 0-6 months and 6-12 months.

Materials
Dk weight yarn -1 balls of 100g
5.5 mm crochet hook
Stitch markers
Scissors
Stitch Guide (US Version)
Ch: Chain
Sc: Single Crochet
DC: Double Crochet
Fpdc: Front post double crochet
Slst: Slip stitch
* *: repeat the instructions between the asterisk
Gauge :
15 stitches /8 rows = 10 cm/4 inches in Dc
Pattern note
- Ch 1 or Ch 2 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
- Ch 2 from row 8 counts as a stitch
Pattern Instructions
0-6 months
Round 1: Make a magic ring, Ch 2, make 1 Dc into the magic ring , mark stitch, work additional 11 Dc in the ring. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (12 Dc)
Round 2: Ch 2, 2 Dc in the first stitch and in each stitch across. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (24 Dc)
Round 3: Ch 2, 2 Dc in the first stitch, *1Dc in the next two stitches 2 Dc in the next stitch * repeat till the end of round. 1 Dc in each of the last two stitches. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (32 Dc)
Round 4: Ch 2, 2 Dc in the first stitch, *1Dc in the next three stitches 2 Dc in the next stitch * repeat till the end of round. 1 Dc in each of the last three stitches. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (40 Dc)
Round 5: Ch 2, 2 Dc in the first stitch, *1Dc in the next four stitches 2 Dc in the next stitch * repeat till the end of round. 1 Dc in each of the last four stitches. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (48 Dc)
We will work in rows from here on
Row 6: Ch 1, *slst in the first stitch, Slst into the second stitch, Ch 1, Sc in the same stitch, Sc into each stitch across. Do not work into the last stitch. (46 stitches)
Row 7: Ch 1, turn. Sc into the first stitch and into each stitch across (46 stitches)
Row 8: Ch 2, Dc into the next stitch and into each stitch across. (46 stitches)
Row 9: Ch 1, turn. Sc into the first stitch and into each stitch across (46 stitches)
Row 10: Ch 2, make Fpdc around the post of the 2nd stitch from Row 8, make Dc into the 3rd stitch, make Fpdc around the post of the 4th stitch from row 8, make Dc into the 5th stitch, *make Fpdc around the post of the 6th stitch from row 8, make Dc into the 7th stitch on row 9 * finish row with 1 Dc into each of the last two stitches. (46 stitches)
Row 11: Ch 1, turn. Sc into the first stitch and into each stitch across (46 stitches)
Row 12: Ch 2, Dc into the 2nd stitch, make Fpdc around the post of the 3rd stitch from Row 10, make Dc into the 4th stitch, *make Fpdc around the post of the 5th from row 10, make Dc into the stitch after * finish row with Dc into the last stitch. (46 stitches)
Row 13: Ch 1, turn. Sc into the first stitch and into each stitch across (46 stitches)
Row 14-17: Repeat row 10-13
Row 18: Ch 1,turn. Sc in first stitch, *skip 1, 5 Dc in the next stitch, skip 1, Sc in next stitch* repeat across. Finish the row with 5 Dc in the next stitch, skip 2, Sc in next stitch. Ch 1 and cut yarn.
STRAP
Row 1: CH 38, join with a Slst to a side of the bonnet. Work 1 Sc through the side of each row (13 Sc) work into the 2 skipped stitches from row 6. Work 1 Sc through each row on the other side, (13 Sc) Ch 39
Row 2: Slst in the second chain from hook and in each of the remaining 37 chains. Sc through the Sc from the previous row till you get to the chains. Slst in each chain across. Ch 1 and cut yarn.
FINISHING
Weave in all ends.
