This easy crochet ridged hat is super easy as all you need to do is crochet a flat rectangle and work some magic with your tapestry needle. The ridged beanie uses the front post double crochet to give the hat a ridged design. This swirl works up super fast and looks cuter with a pompom embellishment
This post contains the written instructions for this swirl in size 0-6 months to help keep your baby warm and cozy. It’s very beginner friendly and a very easy pattern. The written pdf pattern contains nine sizing options from preemie to large adults. Yes! Everyone in the family can get a similar hat! The 0-3 months size is written below.

Materials
Dk weight yarn
Colour A = Blue
Colour B =White
4.5 mm crochet hook (if you crochet tightly you might want to go up a hook size to meet guage)
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Stitches (US Version)
Ch: Chain
Dc :Double crochet
FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet
Gauge :
16 stitches = 10 cm/4 inches in Dc
8 rows = 3.5 inches
Pattern note
- The hat is worked flat. Chain up for the height and the number of rows is the circumference of the head.
- Ch 2 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
- You can use one colour as some sizes does not divide by four exactly. So that you won’t have too much of 1 colour at the end when you join the hat together.
- When you change colour do not cut the previous yarn
Pattern instructions
Chain 34
Row 1: Dc in the 3rd chain from the hook and in each chain across. 32 stitches.
Row 2: Ch 2, FPDC around the post of each stitch across, finish the last stitch with a Slst of Colour B
Row 3: (With Colour B) Ch 2, Dc in front loop only of each stitch across
Row 4: Repeat row 2, finish the last stitch with a Slst of Colour A
Row 5: (With Colour A) repeat row 3
Row 6: repeat row 2, finish the last stitch with a Slst of Colour B
Row 7: (With Colour B)repeat row 3
Keep alternating row 2 and 3 till you get to row 30. Cut yarn and fasten off.
FINISHING
Sew up the back seam, gather the top of the hat and sew. and add a pompom as an embellishment.
