DESIGN

This Lacy summer crochet top pattern is made bottom up. The front and back panels are identical and made separately, they are then connected at the neckline, the front and back panels are then seamed together from the armhole down to the end of the top on both side, and the beautiful lacy crochet summer top is ready!

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced crocheter, this easy crochet halter neck top pattern suits all skill levels. The pattern utilizes basic crochet stitches such as double crochet, half double crochet, single crochet and slip stitch. Additionally, the downloadable PDF pattern offers three different sizing options.

YARN

This crochet lacy halter neck top pattern uses Dk weight yarn in two complementary colors. You can use any DK weight yarn that suits your personal preference. You can make it in a single colour or two complementary colours like I did. It’s totally up to you.

SIZES

The easy crochet summer top pattern provides instructions for three different sizing options, catering to bust measurements of 30-32(34-38,40-44) inches.

Bust Sizes

30-32(34-38,40-44)

Materials:

5.0 mm crochet hook

Dk weight yarn

Colour A = Sky blue

Colour B = White

Stitch markers (Optional)

Yarn needle

Advanced beginner

Stitches (US Version):

Ch:  Chain

Sc: Single Crochet

Hdc: Half double crochet

Dc: Double Crochet

Hdc2tog: Half double crochet two together

FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet

BPDC: Back Post Double Crochet

Slst: Slip stitch

Gauge :

16 stitches /8 rows = 10 cm/4 inches in Dc

Pattern note

  • The top is worked bottom up
  • Ch 1 or Ch 2 at the beginning  of the row does not count as a stitch.

Pattern Instructions:

With colour A. Chain 62(72,82)

Row 1: In the 2nd Ch from the hook make 1 Sc. 1 Sc in each Ch across. 61(71,81,91,101,111) Sc

Row 2: Ch 6, skip the next 4 stitches, make 1 Sc in the 5th stitch, *Ch 5,  skip 4 stitches,  make 1 Sc in the next stitch*. Repeat till the end of row.

Row 3:  *Ch 5, Sc in the 3rd Ch of Ch 5 of previous row, make 4 Dc in the Sc in between Ch 5 of previous row, Sc in the 3rd Ch of next Ch 5 of previous row*. Repeat across row. Finish the row with Ch 2, 1 Dc in the 5th chain of Ch 6 of previous row.

Row 4: Ch 6, 1 Sc in the middle of the shell, *Ch 5, 1 Sc in 3rd Ch of Ch 5 of previous row, Ch 5, 1 Sc in the middle of the shell*. Repeat across row. Finish the row with Ch 5,  1 Sc in the 3rd Ch of Ch 5 of previous row.

Row 5: Ch 3, 2 Dc in the same stitch, 1 Sc in 3rd Ch of Ch 5 of previous row, *Ch 5, 1 Sc in 3rd Ch of Ch 5 of previous row, make 4 Dc in the Sc of previous row, 1 Sc in 3rd Ch of Ch 5 of previous row, Ch 5, 1 Sc in 3rd Ch of Ch 5 of previous row* repeat across row, finish row with 3 Dc in the 5th Ch of the Ch 6 of previous row.

Row 6: Ch 6, 1 Sc in 3rd Ch of Ch 5 of previous row, * Ch 5,  1 Sc in the middle of the shell, Ch 5, 1 Sc in 3rd Ch of Ch 5 of previous row*  finish row with Ch 5, 1 Sc at the top of the 3rd Ch of Ch 3 of previous row.

Row 7-10: Repeat row 3-6

Row 11-14: Repeat row 3-6. Finish row 14 with a Slst of colour B

Row 15-18: Repeat row 3-6

Row 19-22: Repeat row 3-6

Row 23-26: Repeat row 3-6. Finish row 26 with a Slst of colour A

Row 27-30: Repeat row 3-6

Row 31-34: Repeat row 3-6

Row 35-38: Repeat row 3-6

Row 39: Ch 1, *3 Sc in Ch 5 space, 1 Sc in Sc of previous row* repeat across row. Finish row with 3 Sc in Ch 5 space, 1 Sc in 5th chain. Finish row 39 with a Slst of colour B  48(56,64,72,80,88) Sc

Row 40: Ch 2, turn, Hdc2tog, 1 Hdc in each of the stitches, end row with Hdc2tog. 46(54,62,70,78,86)  stitches

Row 41: Ch 2, turn, Hdc2tog twice, 1 Hdc in each of the stitches, end row with Hdc2tog twice. 42(50,58,66,74,82) Stitches

Row 42: Ch 2, turn, Hdc2tog twice, 1 Hdc in each of the stitches, end row with Hdc2tog twice. 38(46,54,62,70,78) stitches

Row 43: Ch 2, turn, Hdc2tog twice, 1 Hdc in each of the stitches, end row with Hdc2tog twice.  34(42,50,58,66,74) stitches. Finish row 43 with a Slst of colour A

Bust 30-32

Row 44: Ch 2, turn, Hdc2tog twice, 1 Hdc in each of the stitches, end row with Hdc2tog twice. (30 stitches)

Row 45: Ch 2, turn, Hdc2tog, 1 Hdc in each of the stitches, end row with Hdc2tog. (28 stitches)

Row 46-47: Repeat row 45. Finish row 47 with a Slst of Colour B (24 stitches)

Row 48-51: Repeat row 45. (16 stitches). Ch 1 and Cut yarn and make second panel.

Bust 34-38

Row 44: Ch 2, turn, Hdc2tog twice, 1 Hdc in each of the stitches, end row with Hdc2tog twice. (38 stitches)

Row 45: Ch 2, turn, Hdc2tog twice, 1 Hdc in each of the stitches, end row with Hdc2tog twice. (34 stitches)

Row 46: Ch 2, turn, Hdc2tog, 1 Hdc in each of the stitches, end row with Hdc2tog. (32 stitches)

Row 47: Repeat row 45. Finish row 47 with a Slst of Colour B (28 stitches)

Row 48: Repeat row 46. (26 stitches)

Row 49: Repeat row 45. (22 stitches)

Row 50: Repeat row 46. (20 stitches)

Row 51: Repeat row 45. (16 stitches). Ch 1 and Cut yarn and make second panel.

Bust 40-44

Row 44: Ch 2, turn, Hdc2tog twice, 1 Hdc in each of the stitches, end row with Hdc2tog twice. (46 stitches)

Row 45-47: Repeat row 44. Finish row 47 with a Slst of Colour B (34 stitches)

Row 48-51: Repeat row 44. (18 stitches). Ch 1 and Cut yarn and make second panel.

ASSEMBLING 

Row 52:  Chain 30, Slst loosely in each of the 16(16,18) stitches of one panel with right side facing you, Ch 10(12,14) loosely, Slst loosely in each of the 16(16,18) stitches of the other panel with right side facing you, Ch 32

Row 53: skip 2 stitches. Hdc in the 3rd chain from the hook,  1 Hdc in each stitch of previous row.

Row 54: Ch 2,  FPDC in the 1st stitch, BPDC in the next stitch, alternate across row. Ch 1and cut yarn.

Finishing

Sew up both sides from row 39 down to the bottom of the top

Weave in all ends.
