Introducing your new favorite warm-weather wardrobe staple: the adult version of the two layers crochet handkerchief skirt. Whether you’re dreaming of sandy toes and ocean waves or a picnic in the park, this skirt is your perfect companion.
DESIGN
This easy crochet skirt pattern is worked top down, starting at the waist band, then the bottom layer is made which grows wider each round and then the top layer is made overlapping the bottom layer and the pointed edges in between the pointed edges of the bottom layer. It is quite a simple crochet skirt pattern.
EASY
This simple crochet skirt pattern is perfect crochet project to make while watching Netflix or listening to your favorite podcast. It uses simple crochet stitches and it’s a mindless crochet pattern, it is repetitive and doesn’t require much attention
YARN
Summer fashion should feel as good as it looks. That’s why I made the two layer crochet handkerchief skirt using a lightweight fingering weight yarn paired with a larger 5.0mm hook. This combination creates an open, airy skirt that’s incredibly breezy and comfortable, even on the hottest days. The larger hook opens up the V-stitches, allowing the skirt to drape beautifully and sway with your every move.

Pattern notes
- Ch 1 or 2 at the beginning of the round does not count as a stitch
- The skirt is worked in rounds.
- V stitch is made with treble crochet to make the stitches taller.
- Ch 5 at the beginning of the round counts as Tr and Ch 1
- To make your skirt more colorful and reversible, you can make each layer with a different color and the band with a strand each of both colors. I made mine with 4 colors, changing colors after every 5 rounds.
- You can make your skirt longer or shorter by adding or reducing the number of rounds for your skirt.
Pattern instructions
Use two strands of your fingering weight yarn held together ( or a strand each of two complementary colors)
(chain loosely or start with foundation double crochet in the round, so that the band will be stretchy)
Skip round 1 if you did foundation double crochet
Ch 96(108,120,132) join in the round with a slst. make sure you don’t twist the chain when you join in round
Round 1: Ch 2, Dc in the first stitch and into each stitch around. Finish round with a Slst to first Dc.
Round 2: Ch 2, Fpdc around the post of the first stitch, Bpdc around the post of the next stitch, Fpdc around the post of the next stitch repeat around the round. Finish round with Bpdc around the post of the last stitch. Finish round with a Slst to first stitch. 96(108,120,132) stitches.
Round 3-4: repeat round 2
Round 5: Ch 1, Sc into the first stitch and into each stitch around. Finish round with a Slst to first Sc. 96(108,120,132) stitches. Ch 1 and cut yarn.
Reattach single strand to where you cut your yarn and work into the back loops only
