EASY CROCHET BABY BONNET PATTERN
Materials
Dk weight yarn -1 balls of 100g
5.0 mm crochet hook
Stitch markers
Scissors
Stitch Guide (US Version)
Ch: Chain
DC: Double Crochet
FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet
Sc: Single Crochet
TC: Treble Crochet
Slst: Slip stitch
- *: repeat the instructions between the asterisk
Gauge :
16 stitches /8 rows = 10 cm/4 inches in Dc
Pattern note
- Ch 1 or Ch 2 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
- Ch 3 counts as a Dc
- The bonnet is worked top down
Pattern Instructions
0-6 months
Round 1: Make a magic ring, Ch 2, make 1 Dc into the magic ring , mark stitch, work additional 11 Dc in the ring. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (12 Dc)
Round 2: Ch 2, 2 Dc in the first stitch and in each stitch across. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (24 Dc)
Round 3: Ch 2, 2 Dc in the first stitch, *1Dc in the next two stitches 2 Dc in the next stitch * repeat till the end of round. 1 Dc in each of the last two stitches. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (32 Dc)
Round 4: Ch 2, 2 Dc in the first stitch, *1Dc in the next three stitches 2 Dc in the next stitch * repeat till the end of round. 1 Dc in each of the last three stitches. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (40 Dc)
Round 5: Ch 2, 2 Dc in the first stitch, *1Dc in the next four stitches 2 Dc in the next stitch * repeat till the end of round. 1 Dc in each of the last four stitches. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (48 Dc)
We will work in rows from here on
Row 6: Ch 1, *slst in the first stitch, Slst into the second stitch, Ch 3, skip 1, *2 Dc into the next stitch, Ch 1, 2Dc into the next stitch, skip 2* Repeat till you have 3 stitches left, Ch 1, skip 1, Dc in the next stitch. Do not work into the last stitch. (46 stitches)
Row 7: Ch 3, skip a Dc, make a Fpdc around the post of the next Dc, into the Ch 1 space make Dc, Ch 1, Dc, Fpdc around the post of the next Dc, skip 2 Dc finish row with skip a Dc, and Dc to the top of Ch 3. (46 stitches)
Row 8-13: repeat row 7 (46 stitches)
Row 14: Ch 1, Sc in the first stitch, skip a Dc, Sc in the next (Dc, ch1 space, Dc), Sc in between the next 2 Dc finish row with Sc to the top of Ch 3. (46 stitches)
Row 15: Ch 2, TC into the first stitch, Slst into the next, TC into the next stitch repeat across. Finish row with a Slst into the last stitch. Ch 1 and cut yarn. (46 stitches)
STRAP
CH 38, join with a Slst to a side of the bonnet. Work 1 Sc through the side of the row of Sc, 2 Sc each in the Dc or Ch 3 on the side of row 13work -row 6, Sc into the 2 skipped stitches from row 6. Work 2 Sc each in the Dc or Ch 3 on the side of each row on the other side, Ch 39
Slst in the second chain from hook and in each of the remaining 37 chains. Sc through the Sc from the previous row till you get to the chains. Slst in each chain across. Ch 1 and cut yarn.
FINISHING
Weave in all ends.
