This easy crochet swirl beanie is super easy as all you need to do is crochet a flat rectangle and work some magic with your tapestry needle. The swirl beanie is worked in back loops only to give the hat a ribbed design. This swirl works up super fast and looks cuter with a pompom embellishment

Materials
Dk weight yarn (2 balls of 100g, 1 for each colour)
Colour A = Blue
Colour B =White
4.5 mm crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Stitch Guide (US Version)
Ch: Chain
Hdc: Half double crochet
BLO: Back loops only
Dc: Double crochet
FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet
BPDC: Back Post Double Crochet
Slst: Slip stitch
Gauge :
16 stitches/ 8 rows = 10 cm/4 inches in Hdc
Pattern note
- The hat is worked flat. Chain up for the height and the number of rows is the circumference of the head.
- Ch 2 or Ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
- When you change colour do not cut the previous yarn.
Pattern instructions
Chain 24
Row 1: Hdc in the 3rd chain from the hook and in each chain across 22 stitches.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Skip first stitch, Hdc in BLO of the next stitch and in each stitch across, 2 Hdc in the BLO of the last stitch, finish the last Hdc with slst of Colour B
Row 3: (With Colour B) Ch 2, turn. 2 Hdc in THE BLO of first stitch, Hdc in BLO of each stitch across, do not work into last stitch.
Row 4: Repeat row 2, finish the last stitch with a slst of Colour A
Row 5: (With Colour A) repeat row 3
Row 6: repeat row 2, finish the last stitch with a slst of Colour B
Keep alternating row 2 and 3 till you get to row 24. Cut yarn and fasten off.
Hat brim
On the neat edge
Row 1: (With Colour A) Ch 2, work 4 Dc evenly into every two rows. You should have a total of 48 Dc. Finish the last Dc with a slst of Colour B
Row 2: (With colour B) Ch 2, turn. Fpdc around the post of the first stitch, Bpdc around the post of the next stitch, keep alternating for the length of the row. Finish the last Fpdc with a slst of Colour A
Row 3: (with Colour A) repeat row 2. Fasten off.
FINISHING
Sew up the back seam, gather the top of the hat and sew. and add a pompom as an embellishment if you desire.
