Crocheting turban cold be very easy and sometimes very complicated and confusing depending on the pattern you are working with. This easy crochet turban is super easy as all you need to do is crochet a flat rectangle and work some magic with your tapestry needle. The turban hat is worked in back loops only to give the turban a ribbed design. This turban works up super fast and it is great for last minute baby gift item.
This post contains the written instructions for this turban in size 0-3 months to help keep your baby warm and cozy. It’s very beginner friendly and a very easy pattern. Dk weight yarn -1 balls of 100g
4.0 mm crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Stitch Guide (US Version)
Ch: Chain
Hdc: Half double crochet
FPHDC: Front Post Half Double Crochet
BPHDC: Back Post Half Double Crochet
Gauge :
16 stitches /10 rows = 10 cm/4 inches in Hdc
Pattern note
- The hat is worked flat and bottom up. Chain up for the circumference of the head and the number of rows is the height of the hat.
- Ch 2 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
Pattern instructions
Chain 50
Row 1: Hdc in the 3rd chain from the hook and in each chain across 48 Hdc.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn. FPHDC around the post of the first stitch across, BPHDC around the post of the next stitch, keep alternating till the end of the row. Row should finish with BPHDC. 48 stitches.
Row 3: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in the first and each stitch across. 48 stitches.
Row 4: Ch 2, turn. Hdc in the back loops only of the first stitch and in each stitch across. 48 stitches.
Keep repeating row 4 until row 13
FINISHING
Fold hat in half and sew up top seam,
The open side seam will be gathered i.e sew row by row such that when you pull the thread, it shrinks. Then tack it in place. Add any embellishments of your choice.
