The lacy design of this baby bonnet is so beautiful. I love the lacy design so much. It is so easy to make and it is beginner friendly. This baby bonnet is classy yet has vintage look.

DESIGN

This easy crochet baby bonnet has a beautiful lacy design. It is super cute even without any edging detail. It works up super fast. You can make this easy crochet baby bonnet in less than an hour.

FAST AND EASY

This fast and easy crochet baby bonnet works up in just twelve rows and with no edging detail you will done in no time. The pattern itself already creates a beautiful edging

LACY AND CUTE

This lacy crochet baby bonnet is a beauty to behold. It’s my best crochet baby bonnet yet. It is so pretty and cute in different colors of yarn.

YARN

I used light worsted weight yarn for this easy crochet baby bonnet pattern. You can use any light worsted weight yarn of your choice.

SIZES

The written PDF pattern contains two sizing options. 0-6 months and 6-12 months sizes. The 0-6 size is written below.

CROCHET BABY BONNET STEP BY STEP

Materials

Light worsted weight yarn -1 balls of 100g

5.5 mm crochet hook

Stitch markers

Scissors

Stitch Guide (US Version)

Ch: Chain

Sc: Single crochet

DC: Double Crochet

V stitch: Dc Ch 2 Dc

Fpdc: Front post double crochet

Fpdc2tog: Front post double crochet 2 together

Slst: Slip stitch

  • *: repeat the instructions between the asterisk

Gauge :

16 stitches /10 rows = 10 cm/4 inches in Hdc

Pattern note

  • Ch 2 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
  • Ch 3 counts as the first double crochet of the row.

Pattern Instructions

0-6 months

Round 1: Make a magic ring, Ch 2, make 1 Dc into the magic ring , mark stitch,  work additional 11 Dc in the ring. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc.  (12 Dc)

Round 2: Ch 2, 2 Dc in the first stitch and in each stitch across. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (24 Dc)

Round 3: Ch 2, 2 Dc in the first stitch, *1Dc in the next two stitches  2 Dc in the next stitch * repeat till the end of round. 1 Dc in each of the last two stitches. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (32 Dc)

Round 4: Ch 2, 2 Dc in the first stitch, *1Dc in the next three stitches  2 Dc in the next stitch * repeat till the end of round. 1 Dc in each of the last three stitches. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (40 Dc)

Round 5: Ch 2, 2 Dc in the first stitch, *1Dc in the next four stitches  2 Dc in the next stitch * repeat till the end of round. 1 Dc in each of the last four stitches. Finish the round with a slst to the 1st Dc. (48 Dc)

We will work in rows from here on

Row 6: Slst into the next stitch and the stitch after.  Ch 3, Dc in the next stitch and in each stitch across, do not work into the last stitch. (45 stitches)

Row 7: Ch 3, turn. Skip a stitch, V stitch into the next stitch skip 3 stitches, V stitch , into the next stitch repeat across row. Finish row with skip 1, Dc to the top of Ch 3

Row 8: Ch 3, turn. Fpdc around the post of Dc before Ch 2, (3 Dc, Ch 1, 3 Dc) into the Ch 2 space, make fpdc2tog with the next 2 Dc, (3 Dc, Ch 1, 3 Dc) into the Ch 2 space repeat across row. Finish row with Fpdc around the post of the last Dc of the row, Dc to the top of Ch 3.

Row 9: Ch 3, reach over to the Ch 1 space, V stitch, into the Ch 1 space, make V stitch, into each Ch 1 space across. Finish row with Dc to the top of Ch 3.

Row 10: repeat row 8

Row 11: repeat row 9

Row 12: repeat row 8, Ch 1 and cut yarn.

STRAP

CH 38, join with a Slst to a side of the bonnet. Work 2 Sc through the side of each row (14 Sc) work into the 3 skipped stitches from row 6. Work 2 Sc through each row on the other side, Ch 39

Slst in the second chain from hook and in each of the remaining 37 chains. Sc through the Sc from the previous row till you get to the chains. Slst in each chain across. Ch 1 and cut yarn.

FINISHING

Weave in all ends.
