My First Alphabets Crochet Baby Romper | Free Pattern

This crochet baby romper pattern has a unique design featuring the first three alphabets of the English letters. This romper is so cute as it is colourful and intends to educate and entertain your little one. Looks great in all baby colour combination plus it has an excellent fit. The written pdf pattern contains three sizing options. The 0-3 size is written below.

Materials:

5.0 mm crochet hook

DK yarn – 400g (100g each of Colour A, B, C and D)

Colour A = White

Colour B = Red

Colour C = Green

Colour D =Yellow

Stitch markers (Optional)

Yarn needle

Difficulty:

Intermediate (Should be able to make bobble stitch in contrasting colours)

Gauge :

14 stitches /8 rows= 10 cm/4 inch square in Dc

Stitch Guide (US Version):

Ch: Chain

Sc: Single Crochet

Dc: Double crochet

FPDC: Front Post Double Crochet

BPDC: Back Post Double Crochet

Bobble stitch

Slst: Slip stitch

Pattern note

  • Ch 1 or Ch 2 at the beginning of a row doesn’t count as a stitch

Pattern Instructions:

Ch 60 join with a slst

Round 1: Ch 2, Dc in the first stitch, mark stitch. Dc in each stitch across. Join with a Slst. 60(64,68) stitches.

Round 2: Ch 2, Fpdc around the post of the first stitch, Bpdc around the post of the next stitch, keep alternating till the end of round. 60 stitches. Join with a Slst.

Round 3: Repeat row 2

Round 4: Ch 2, Dc in the first stitch, mark stitch. Dc in each stitch across. Join with a Slst. 60 stitches.

Round 5-11: repeat round 4

Round 12: Count 30 stitches from the hook and join the 30th stitch with a Slst. Ch 2, Dc in the first stitch, mark stitch. Dc in each stitch around. Join with a Slst. 30 stitches.

Round 13: Ch 2, Dc in the first stitch, mark stitch. Dc in each stitch around. Join with a Slst. 30 stitches.

Repeat round 13: for 2 round. Finish round 15 with a Slst of colour B.

Round 16: (With Colour B) Ch 2, Fpdc around the post of the first stitch, Bpdc around the post of the next stitch, keep alternating till the end of round. 30 stitches. Join with a Slst of colour C.

Round 17: (With Colour C) Ch 2, Fpdc around the post of the first stitch, Bpdc around the post of the next stitch, keep alternating till the end of round. 30 stitches. Join with a Slst of colour D.

Round 18: (With Colour D) Ch 2, Fpdc around the post of the first stitch, Bpdc around the post of the next stitch, keep alternating till the end of round. 30 stitches. Join with a Slst. Ch 1 and cut yarn.

Attach yarn to the inner section of the other leg.

Repeat round 12 -18. Ch 1 and cut yarn.

Front Panel

From the Slst at the back of the short, count 20 stitch to the left, mark the 21st . Count 14 stitch to the right, mark the 15th stitch.

You should have 26 stitches.

With the right side facing you, (With Colour A) Reattach yarn with a slip knot to the marked stitch.

Row 1: Ch 1, Sc into the same stitch and in each stitch till the other stitch marker. 26 stitches.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first and second stitches, finish the second Sc with a Slst of colour C, *make a bobble stitch into the next stitch, Sc into the next,* repeat two more times, make a bobble stitch in the next stitch, finish the bobble stitch with Colour A, Sc in the next 7 stitches, finish the 7th Sc with a Slst of Colour D, *make a bobble stitch into the next stitch, Sc into the next,* repeat one more time, make a bobble stitch in the next stitch, finish the bobble stitch with Colour A, Sc in the remaining 5 stitches of the row. 26 stitches.

Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in each stitch across. 26 stitches.

Row 4: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first and second stitches, finish the second Sc with colour C, make a bobble stitch into the next stitch, finish the bobble stitch with Colour A, Sc in the next 7 stitches, finish the 7th Sc with Colour C, make a bobble stitch in the next stitch, finish the bobble stitch with Colour A, Sc in the next 3 stitches, finish the 3rd Sc with Colour D, make a bobble stitch in the next stitch, finish the bobble stitch with Colour A, Sc in the next 7 stitches, finish the 7th Sc with Colour D, make a bobble stitch in the next stitch, finish the bobble stitch with Colour A, Sc in the remaining 3 stitches of the row. 26 stitches.

Row 5: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in each stitch across. 26 stitches.

Row 6: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first and second stitches, finish the second Sc with a Slst of colour C, *make a bobble stitch into the next stitch, Sc into the next,* repeat two more times, make a bobble stitch in the next stitch, finish the bobble stitch with Colour A, Sc in the next 7 stitches, finish the 7th Sc with a Slst of Colour D, *make a bobble stitch into the next stitch, finish the bobble stitch with Colour A, Sc in the remaining 11 stitches of the row. 26 stitches.

Row 7: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in each stitch across. 26 stitches.

Row 8: repeat row 4

Row 9: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in each stitch across. 26 stitches.

Row 10: repeat row 2

Row 11-13: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in each stitch across. 26 stitches.

Row 14: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in the next 7 stitches, finish the 8th Sc with a Slst of Colour B, make a bobble stitch into the next stitch, finish the bobble stitch with Colour A, Sc in the next 7 stitches, finish the 7th Sc with Colour B, make a bobble stitch into the next stitch, Sc in the remaining 9 stitches of the row. 26 stitches.

Row 15: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in each stitch across. 26 stitches.

Row 16: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in the next 7 stitches, finish the 8th Sc with Colour B, *make a bobble stitch into the next stitch, Sc into the next,* repeat three more times, make a bobble stitch in the next stitch, finish the bobble stitch with Colour A, Sc in the remaining 9 stitches of the row. 26 stitches.

Row 17: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in each stitch across. 26 stitches.

Row 18: Repeat row 14

Row 19: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in each stitch across. 26 stitches.

Row 20: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in the next 9 stitches, finish the 10th Sc with Colour B, make a bobble stitch into the next stitch, finish the bobble stitch with Colour A, Sc in the next 3 stitches, finish the 3rd Sc with Colour B, make a bobble stitch into the next stitch, Sc in the remaining 11 stitches of the row. 26 stitches.

Row 21: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in each stitch across. 26 stitches.

Row 22: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in the next 11 stitches, finish the 12th Sc with Colour B, make a bobble stitch into the next stitch, finish the bobble stitch with Colour A, Sc in the remaining stitches of the row. 26 stitches.

Row 23-24: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in each stitch across. 26 stitches. Ch 1 and cut yarn.

Back Strap

Count 12 stitches from each side of the front panel, mark the next stitches (10 stitches)

Row 1: (With Colour B) Attach yarn with a Slst, Ch 1, Sc in the first stitch and each stitch across (10 stitches)

Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and each stitch across (10 stitches)

Row 3-15: Repeat row 2

Row 16: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and each stitch across) (10 stitches) Ch 1 and cut yarn.

Row 1: (With Colour C ) Attached yarn with a Slst to the right edge. Ch 1, Sc in the first stitch and in the next 4 stitches (5 stitches)

Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in the next 4 stitches (5 stitches)

Row 3-17: repeat row 2

Row 18: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch, Ch 3,skip 3, Sc in the last stitch (5 stitches)

Row 19: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch, make 3 Sc in the Ch 3 space, Sc in the last stitch (5 stitches)

Row 20: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in the next 4 stitches (5 stitches) Ch 1 and cut yarn.

Row 1: (With Colour D ) Attached yarn with a Slst to the stitch next to the strap made with Colour B. Ch 1, Sc in the first stitch and in the next 4 stitches (5 stitches)

Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in the next 4 stitches (5 stitches)

Row 3-17: repeat row 2

Row 18: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch, Ch 3,skip 3, Sc in the last stitch (5 stitches)

Row 19: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch, make 3 Sc in the Ch 3 space, Sc in the last stitch (5 stitches)

Row 20: Ch 1, turn. Sc in the first stitch and in the next 4 stitches (5 stitches) Ch 1 and cut yarn.

FINISHING

Weave in all ends and attach buttons.

FINISHED ROMPER
